Registration for 2022-23 WINTER Sports is OPEN today, 10/26 through 11/11

The Athletics Department at Douglas County High School welcomes you to one of the finest high schools in the nation.  Douglas County High School is proud of not only our IB program that supplements our students academic achievements, we are proud of the rich ATHLETICS traditions we have as well.  This information is intended to answer questions you have concerning the Athletics Programs at Douglas County High School prior to your first days of practices.


The official start date for WINTER SPORTS is Monday, November 14, 2022.  Prior to being cleared to practice, each student/athlete must have the online athletics registration forms completed, a physician's clearance (within the last 365 days and cannot expire during the season), and the District athletic fee paid.

Athletes will NOT be allowed to try out until all three (3) things are completed:

  1. Online Registration - USE THIS LINK
  2. Physical signed and dated by the doctor and uploaded in the registration document (bring a copy of it to Miss Jan in the Athletics Office)
  3. Payment of athletic fee

Transfer Students: If the student has transferred from another school in the past 12 months, please see the DCHS Athletics & Activities Director, Mrs. Diane Shuck-Gray or the Athletics Assistant, Mrs. Jan Shawcroft for further instructions.

Online registration for all winter sports will be available on the DCHS athletics website beginning October 26, 2022.  Please do NOT try to register for winter sports prior to October 26, 2022.

The Douglas County School District requires all students who choose to participate in athletics pay a fee of $200 for each sport/season.  *If there is a financial hardship, please see Mrs. Shuck-Gray to discuss options as we don't want any student to not participate due financial difficulties.

All students that are homeschooled or enrolled in private or charter schools who wish to participate in a Douglas County High School athletic team MUST complete additional paperwork to register as a DCHS student for the purpose of extracurricular activities.  You will not be able to pay the participation fee in MySchoolBucks for Douglas County High School athletics until this paperwork has been completed and processed by the DCHS Registrar.   Please contact either Shannon Mason, DCHS Registrar ( or Jan Shawcroft, DCHS Athletics Secretary ( to get the "enrollment for athletics only" paperwork.


If you are interested in partaking in interscholastic athletics at Douglas County High School, please familiarize yourself with the various programs offered and the procedures involved for registration and participation.


Some sports will involved cutting students from a team.  This is due to many factors, the most important being the safety and welfare of students.  Other reasons are: limited numbers needed on a particular team, facilities and space availability, equipment limitations, lack of athletic ability, and individual coach philosophies.


Before you start the registration process, please have the following information available:

  • The sport in which your child will participate in
  • Doctor and hospital contact information
  • Emergency contact information
  • Immunization, medicine and allergy information
